SHOE List

SHOE (Societies for the History of Economics) is one of the oldest continuously operating academic email discussion lists, serving as a moderated forum jointly sponsored by the History of Economics Society and the European Society for the History of Economic Thought.

Originally launched as the HES list at Babson College in February 1995, SHOE became part of the EH.Net network in February 1996 before relocating to York University in November 2008, when it adopted its current name. Today, this international forum serves over 1,000 subscribers spanning more than 40 countries worldwide.

The list welcomes anyone interested in the history of economics and economic thought who wishes to engage in respectful scholarly dialogue. Discussions encompass historical figures, themes, primary sources, and research methodologies in economics history, along with announcements about funding opportunities, digital resources, conferences, and academic events. Members also share information requests and teaching insights. All correspondence is archived and publicly accessible online.
